I Cheated

and opened one of my Christmas presents...at the urging of my husband, that is. He can NEVER wait for me to be surprised. I find it charming:) I received a UPS package last night and opened it to find a Sony Reader-PRS 700...say what???

It's similar to Amazon's "Kindle" in that you can store and read hundreds of books on it; an electronic, carry anywhere and everywhere book. I recently got to look at a "Kindle"...thank you SP, and given the brief time I've spent with both products I think they're both pretty slick (HA...that's a Dad"ism") Anyhoo, I'm about to load some books and really see what this baby can do...only drawback...you have to plug in the Reader to a PC in order to download books, whereas the "Kindle" is on its own wicked cool network or something where you can order books at the touch of a button without plugging it in. The Reader is smaller and sleeker, though...no offense, SP!! Wish me technological godspeed;)

Star Light, Star Bright

Hubby and I stayed up waaaay too late watching "Twilight". Call me crazy-corny, but last week Josh and I accepted tickets from my little brother to go to the midnight showing of "Twilight" here in Decatur. I haven't stayed up that late since Ella was born. My thoughts regarding our midnight "Twilight" experience:

- Decatur's theatre is somewhat of a charming throwback to the pre-thousand-screen-multi-megaplex, albeit a bit dusty and sticky with seats' comfortablility level reaching American Airlines-ish standards.
- I saw students there who'd been reading the book for weeks. I was proud of their enthusiasm and dedication to the story.
- Watching movies at the theatre cannot be good for my bladder; I refuse to miss anything.
- I only read a portion of the book, and that placed me smack dab in the "not worthy" to watch group.
- The clapping and shrieking of teenaged girls wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be.
- Edward Cullen is a nice lookin' vampire, but I must say that he doesn't hold a candle to Lestat.
- Robert Pattinson, the guy who plays Edward Cullen, wasn't nearly as hunky when he appeared as Cedric Diggory in "Harry Potter: The Goblet of Fire".
- And finally, the next midnight showing I attend will probably be when Ella can say, "Hey, Mom...let's go watch that movie...pleeeease!!"
